1. Describe the difference between rods and cones. Think of some personal experiences in which you may have relied on one more than the other.

2. What is the difference between bottom-up and top-down processing? Describe a situation in which you engaged in bottom-up and top-down processing.

3. It has been said that we taste with our eyes first. Think about your favorite food and focus not on how it tastes but on how it looks. Now think about how it smells. How do vision, smell, and taste work together to produce the experience of your favorite dish? Would your favorite dish be as appetizing if served from a dog bowl?

4. Which of the senses most makes you who you are today? Why this one more than the others? (Do not say they all matter. Think about this one!)
