Hypothesis Testing

Your goal in this exercise is to build and test hypotheses using inferential statistics in EXCEL. You will find information from 85 cases (individuals) in the file. This dataset includes three new variables for this assignment.

•Salary(k)

•PreTest: Critical thinking test before a training

•PostTest: Critical Thinking test after a training

You will have four questions to answer. Please write your answer in a Word file. Copy and paste the result table from the Excel analysis.

1. An HR manager in SHU. CO. believes there is a relationship between gender and job performance. Using data, he wants to explore whether a female’s job performance is greater than a male’s.

1)Verbally and mathematically state the null and research hypothesis.

2)Which statistical test will you use to test this hypothesis?

3)Use inferential statistics in EXCEL to test the hypotheses. Copy and paste your output here.

4)Briefly discuss your results.

2. An HR manager in SHU. CO. also believes there is a relationship between job level and job satisfaction. Using data, he wants to explore whether the job satisfaction level of the above manager level is greater than the job satisfaction level of non-manager level employees. He uses multiple items for job satisfaction.

1)Verbally and mathematically state the null and research hypothesis.

2)Which statistical test will you use to test this hypothesis?

3)Use inferential statistics in EXCEL to test the hypotheses. Copy and paste your output here.

4)Briefly discuss your results.

3. An HR manager in SHU. CO. also believes there is a relationship between employment type and job satisfaction. Using data, he wants to explore whether the job satisfaction level of full-time employees is greater than that of part-time employees. He uses a single item for job satisfaction.

1)Verbally and mathematically state the null and research hypothesis.

2)Which statistical test will you use to test this hypothesis?

3)Use inferential statistics in EXCEL to test the hypotheses. Copy and paste your output here.

4)Briefly discuss your results.

4. A Training program director at SHU. CO. wants to test whether HR employees have increased critical thinking skills after taking critical thinking training. Eighty-five employees took a critical thinking test before taking the training. Then after taking the course, the same employees retook the same test.

1)Verbally and mathematically state the null and research hypothesis

2)Which statistical test will you use to test this hypothesis?

3)Use inferential statistics in EXCEL to test the hypotheses. Copy and paste your output here.

4)Briefly discuss your results.
