Unit 2 Overview: HRM Business Case: Relationship to HRM and organization effectiveness

Introduction

The focus of this unit will be the “Business Case” for HRM. It is critical that HR professionals learn to articulate the importance of HRM as a business requirement. The lessons in this unit concentrate on using linking successful employees to a successful organization. So, as you read and discuss these issues, please remember that people are important to an organization, but the importance must be linked to desired organizational outcomes.

Unit 2: Current Event Exercise

Introduction

The purpose of the HR current event exercise is to analyze the student’s articulation of key HR activities (CLOs/ULOs). The project is due on Sunday of each of the following units: 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. The assignment is worth 20 points each week.

DIRECTIONS

Each student develops a presentation (Power Point Presentation). The presentation will
summarize the HR business case of a current event. The current event must include a
link between an organization’s use of HR management (HRM) and HR development
(HRD) to enhance organization return on the organization’s investment in people. The
current event can be from the news, Park Library, or other researched current event.
The presentation must clearly articulate how the Human Resource Management
function of an organization positively contributes to organizational outcomes. The final
presentation slide is required to include all references in APA format.Textbooks
