Conducting Interviews

As part of your primary research for Project 1, you should conduct at least 2 interviews with group members. Doing so will help you determine what takeaway you which to convey to your readers in your profile.   Prepare for your interviews by considering the following questions:

  1. Who are your interview subjects?  What stake do they have in the issue you are analyzing?
  1. What is your goal or purpose for the interview?  What purpose do you see the interviews serving for your research project?  What do you hope to learn from these interviews?
  2. What will be the format of the interviews?  Will you conduct them in person, over the phone, or over Google hangout or Skype, for example?  How will you set your interview subjects at ease in whatever format you choose to use?
  3. How will you record information during the interview?  Will you use a tape recorder, your phone, a notebook?  Please be sure to get permission from your subject for any recordings you make.
